Tiger sharks killed following attacks in Australia

Australian authorities on Saturday caught and killed two tiger sharks, just days after a 46-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl were attacked by within 24 hours.

Fisheries department officers shot the two tiger sharks, including one estimated to be more than four metres long, after the marine predators were netted in Whitsunday Islands, reports

On Wednesday evening, a mauled the woman swimming in the area.

On Thursday, the girl from suffered serious leg injuries from a similar attack.

Both victims were hospitalized and had multiple blood transfusions and emergency surgery to stabilize them.

The attacks prompted Australian authorities to advise tourists against swimming in the area.
