Co-optex targets ₹20 crore sales during Deepavali season in Coimbatore region

The 6,000 sq.ft Marudham Co-optex showroom here has been renovated at a cost of ₹1.5 crore to have larger space for silk products and an exclusive area for export quality home textile items.

Inaugurating the showroom on Friday, Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development S.P. Velumani said Co-optex registered sales of ₹316 crore in 2017-2018 across the country. Co-optex has retail outlets across the country and many of these are being renovated to meet the needs of customers. Under this project, the Marudham outlet was taken up for renovation here. Several new varieties and designs of textile products are now displayed at the outlet.

The Co-optex is looking at sales of ₹20 crore through its outlets in Coimbatore region during Deepavali season, this year.

The target for Marudham showroom is ₹5 crore. It registered sales of ₹3.81 crore during Deepavali season last year. Customers can avail of discount up to 30 % on handloom products during the sales.

The Minister distributed gold coins to 20 customers in Coimbatore region who were selected winners of the “Thanga Mazhai” scheme. The five first prize winners received eight gram gold coins each and the 15 second prize winners got four gram coins each.
