EVMs with VVPATs arrive in district headquarters

Electronic voting machines (EVMs) with voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) have arrived in the district headquarters.

The representatives of different political parties attended the demonstrations held at the Velugu office located on the bypass road and most of them are satisfied. As many as 2,350 ballot units, 1,830 control units and 1,920 VVPATs were kept ready and demonstration has been taking place almost every day. “We are exhibiting them whenever representative of any political party is coming,” said Joint Collector Ms. Nikhila Reddy.

“The performance of VVPATs is satisfactory. It’s showing for whom we have voted and the display was good and voter can ascertain the vote polled. There are no doubts on their work,” said G. Jayakar of CPI (M) who had participated in a demonstration. S

iddipet 1,760 ballet units, 1,380 control units and 1,490 VVPATs have arrived in the district and they are kept at agriculture market committee (AMC) located at Kondapaka.

Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar said that revenue divisional officers (RDOs) would be appointed as returning officers (ROs) at Gajwel, Husnabad and Dubbak constituencies and that an RO is yet to be appointed for Siddipet. Informing that voters’ draft list is already released, the Collector said that voters’ list must be checked at booth-level by the representatives of political parties.

In Medak, 670 control units, 860 ballot units and 730 VVPATs have arrived. They were examined by Collector K. Dharma Reddy and Joint Collector G. Nagesh. Here also, the demonstration for political parties has been completed.
