BJP workers, led by MLA G. Somashekar Reddy, staged a demonstration here on Friday to protest against Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy giving a call to the people to revolt against the BJP.
Movement of traffic at the busy Gadagi Chennappa Circle was disrupted for some time due to the demonstration.
Speaking to presspersons later, Mr. Reddy strongly condemned the Chief Minister for making such a statement.
“You (Janata Dal-S) people are only 37, while the BJP has 104 MLAs, blessed by the people. If they revolt against you (Chief Minister), things would be different. People would definitely teach the Chief Minister and his party a befitting lesson in the coming elections to the Lok Sabha. Mr. Kumaraswamy should realise this and should not make any such statements,” he said.
Stating that the BJP had not indulged in “poaching MLAs” as had been alleged, Mr. Reddy said that “such operations are being conducted by themselves in the Janata Dal (S) and Congress camps”.
Gurulinganagouda, Ramalingappa and Mrutyunjaya Jinaga were among other senior leaders to participate in the demonstration.
