NEW DELHI: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday said that he is disappointed over India's "arrogant and negative" response to his offer of peace after the Modi government decided to call off the meeting + of foreign ministers of both the countries in New York.

"Disappointed at the arrogant & negative response by India to my call for resumption of the peace dialogue. However, all my life I have come across small men occupying big offices who do not have the vision to see the larger picture," Khan tweeted today.

India on Friday had called off the meeting between foreign minister Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi that was to take place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, citing the "brutal" killings of security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir as well as the release of postal stamps glorifying terrorists, including Burhan Wani.

Lashing out at the Imran government, India had said that the true face of new Prime Minister of Pakistan has been revealed to the world and that too in the first few months itself.

India had agreed to the talks + after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking to re-start the bilateral talks on key issues "challenging the relationship."

The meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries would have been the first such high-level engagement since suspension of dialogue between the two nations after the Pathankot air base terror attack in 2016.

Yesterday, Pakistan's foreign office too expressed disappointment at the cancelletion of talks, saying that the reasons cited by India were "entirely unconvincing".
