Mumbai: Skeletal remains found on Malad station tracks

Mumbai: On Thursday evening, the skeletal remains of a woman were found near the railway tracks of Malad railway station. The police also found a kurti and dupatta near the remains, which had been supposedly dumped a few months ago near the bushes adjacent to the railway tracks. Borivli Government Railway Police are investigating the case.

The remains were found by the gardeners employed by the railway who were working outside Platform No 3 of Malad railway station. They immediately alerted the police. Prima facie, the skeletal remains seem to be two-three months old and were in pieces, said the police.

The remains were sent to the state-run JJ Hospital to identify the cause of death and ascertain the identity of the woman. An officer said that the woman’s height was around 4-5 feet. The police are now awaiting the post-mortem report. Meanwhile, the police officials are checking missing person reports filed in the last two-three months for a possible match.
