New Delhi, Union Home Ministry on Friday denied reports of Jammu and Kashmir police personnel resigning from the force in wake of kidnapping and murder of three J&K police officials by militant groups in Shopian and said that such reports are false and mischievous.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in a statement issued here, said reports have appeared in a section of the media that a few Special Police Officers (SPOs) in Jammu and Kashmir have resigned after the abduction of several police men by the Hizbul Mujahidin which are ‘totally untrue’.
“The J&K police has confirmed that these reports are untrue and motivated. These reports are based on false propaganda by mischievous elements,” the statement said.
The J&K Police has a professional and committed police force which is fully geared up to meet the security challenges, including those related to panchayat and urban body elections, the Home Ministry further said.
There are more than 30,000 SPOs and their services are reviewed from time to time. Some mischievous elements are trying to project that those SPOs whose services are not renewed due to administrative reasons, have resigned, the MHA clarified.
“Militants are on the back-foot in J&K and 28 militants have been neutralised this year in Shopian alone due to pro-active actions of J&K police, militants have been pushed to corner and are being driven to desperation, the Home Ministry added.
