Thirty leaders apply for ticket to the Assembly seat

Warangal East Assembly constituency has the highest number of leaders within the Congress party seeking a ticket. A total of 30 leaders applied for the ticket for the ensuing elections followed by 18 for the Wardhannapet (SC) and Station Ghanpur (SC) seats.

The District Congress Committee (DCC) headed by Naini Rajender Reddy has asked the aspirants to submit their applications to be forwarded to the TPCC soon. As many as 10 leaders applied for the Mahabubabad (ST) seat and seven for the Warangal West seat. Six leaders were seeking each ticket from Parkal and Palakurthy Assembly constituencies and four from Jangaon.

Meanwhile, at the meeting held to review the poll preparedness of the party for Warangal West constituency, all the rivals — DCC president Naini Rajender Reddy and former Mayor Errabelli Swarna and former MLA Vem Narender Reddy attended the meeting and pledged to work for the victory of the official candidate.

Mr. Rajender Reddy has been with the party since his youth and has been aspiring for the Warangal West ticket for a long time. However he did not get a chance till date as the party fielded Kondapalli Dayasagara Rao and Errabelli Swarna in the past and lost the elections. The TRS has been holding the seat for the past three consecutive terms.

However, three leaders were trying their best to secure the ticket this time and each of them was confident of winning the election.

Speaking to The Hindu, Mr Rajender Reddy said it was the party high command’s decision to select the candidate. “We will work united together to ensure victory to the party. There is favourable atmosphere for the Congress party in Warangal district and we are sure to win over six seats of the 12 seasts in the district,” he said.Though they were putting up a united show, each leaders was lobbying his best to secure the ticket.

In another development, former MP and union minister Porika Balram Naik is reportedly trying for Mahabubabad Assembly ticket this time. Those aspiring for the ticket are apprehensive owing to his rapport with the party high command and wish that he opt for Lok Sabha rather than Assembly seat.
