The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Thursday issued a notice to the Delhi Police, seeking details of the steps taken to ensure the safety of the 50-year-old woman rescued from Rohini on Tuesday.
The women’s commission, along with the Delhi Police had rescued the woman from her brother’s house in Rohini, where she was allegedly held captive for over two years.
In the letter to the police, the DCW said, “The lady has informed the commission that she was given only one piece of bread every four days for the last two years and no external person was allowed to meet her. Currently, she is undergoing treatment. Please provide the current status report in the case along with the copy of FIR.” It also read: “Please provide details of the steps taken to ensure safety and security of the lady.”
Authorities have been asked to provide relevant information by September 24.
DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal had on Wednesday said that considering the “bad condition” of the woman, the commission is planning to formulate a “long-term rehabilitation plan” for her.
The police said that the woman’s brother Sunil and his wife Annapurna have been arrested.
