IBPS Clerk 2018: Exam pattern changed, sectional timing introduced

NEW DELHI: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts a common written exam (CWE) yearly from the past 8 years for the post of clerical cadre. Every year lakhs of candidates apply for the clerical cadre post in IBPS. It is the one of the most coveted job in India.

This year, IBPS Clerk VIII Exam 2018 notification was released on 14th September 2018 for a total of 7275 vacancies. The online application link has been activated on 18th September 2018 at the official website and will continue till 10th October 2018. To prepare for an exam it is important to know the exam pattern, in order to prepare a strategy for the exam. The Preliminary phase of IBPS Clerk exam is of qualifying in nature. There is no interview in the complete process, and final merit list will be prepared based on the marks scored by the candidates in the Mains examination.



This year the major change introduced in IBPS Clerk exam pattern, i.e. sectional timing in the prelims section. The total time duration is as similar to the previous ones, only the duration has been set for each subject. Below is the detailed latest IBPS Clerk exam pattern 2018:

  • The above tests except for the English language will be available in both Hindi as well as in the English language.
  • A negative marking of 1/4th marks, i.e. 0.25 marks will be deducted on every wrong answer attempted by the candidate.
  • Candidates have to secure cut off marks in each of the three tests as decided by IBPS.
Note: The IBPS Clerk 2018 Mains exam pattern has not been changed, it is same as last year.
