villages located in and around Outer Ring Road (
ORR) will get water supplies on alternate days on par with Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
On Thursday, the water board arranged a photo exhibition pertaining to completion of works like construction of service reservoirs and laying of water trunk mains and distribution network in the 190 villages under Mission Bhagiratha. HMWS&SB MD M Dana Kishore said work on 60 out of 165 service reservoirs has been completed. “Work on remaining reservoirs will be finished by October-end,” said Kishore.
He said they would quench the thirst of over 10 lakh
population by providing Godavari and Krishna water. “At the moment, the water board is supplying 7 MGD. Quantity will be increased to 30 MGD once work on service reservoirs is finished. The board is expecting to add 1.50 lakh new water connections and earn a revenue of ₹5 crore per month through water bills,” he added.
