With the Delhi Metro’s Pink Line corridor between Lajpat Nagar and Mayur Vihar-Pocket 1 likely to open soon, the Hazrat Nizamuddin metro station is being touted to be a “major transit hub”.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said on Thursday that the metro station at Hazrat Nizamuddin will facilitate commute for passengers trying to reach the railway station.
“The metro station will provide direct connectivity to the railway station and Sarai Kale Khan Inter-State Bus Terminus. The metro station will have dedicated entry and exit point connections to both the railway station and the ISBT,” said a DMRC official.
“While one entry and exit point will be within 50 metres from the ISBT, the other will be at 150 metres from the railway station,” the official said.
Currently, metro stations closest to Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT are located at a distance of 3 km to 4 km, the official said.
The DMRC added that the metro station will have drop off bays near its three entry and exit points. The corporation had on September 5 started trial runs on the 9.7-km stretch between Lajpat Nagar and Mayur Vihar-Pocket 1.
This corridor is part of the Delhi Metro’s Pink Line, which connects Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar. The section between Majlis Park and Lajpat Nagar is operational currently and the rest of the line is scheduled to begin operation in phases.
