Mumbai: After the Bombay High Court (HC) interim order prohibiting playing Dolby Sound system and DJ music, the Satara Member of Parliament, Udayanraje Bhosale had openly challenged this order. He had urged the residents to continue playing the music loudly.

In response to this brazen contempt of court order, Pankaj Deshmukh the Satara Superintendent of Police (SP) led a procession of police on the streets of Satara. The police also roped in school children to spread awareness against loud Dolby and DJ music which cause noise pollution. The procession also had traditional dhol-tasha and police band which was playing music without blaring sound.

Instead of taking on a politician directly by issuing warnings, the Satara police, used an innovative way to challenge his contempt action. Meanwhile Bhosale said, he is not afraid of any contempt notice and he will not back off his stand. “Im not an escapist, I will stand surely behindmy workers,” said Bhosale. The police also is firm on its stand and the Sunday visarjan will be the day of verdict.

Few days ago, Vishwas Nangre-Patil, the Inspector General of Kolhapur range had called for a presser in which he had clarified the role of police regarding Ganesh festival and the noise pollution. He said, “We appeal to people to respect court order and celebrate Ganesh festival in peace.”
