Facebook begins rollout of dating product, starting in Colombia

Facebook Inc. FB, +1.82% said Thursday that it was beginning the rollout of its online-dating product in Colombia. Facebook Dating will have a separate space on Facebook and will suggest matches based on preferences and interests. Users won't be shown their Facebook friends or people they've blocked on the core service. "More than 200 million people have listed themselves as single in their relationship status on Facebook," Facebook Dating's product manager Nathan Sharp said in a statement. "We view this as an incredible opportunity to continue helping people build relationships in meaningful ways on Facebook." The product isn't yet available in the U.S. Facebook shares are up 1.6% in midday trading Thursday, while Match Group Inc. MTCH, -3.24% shares are down 3.2%. Facebook's stock has fallen 3.8% over the past 12 months, as the S&P 500 SPX, +0.78% has gained 17%.
