Aprilia Storm 125 India launch by early 2019

20th Sep 2018 4:00 pm

Once launched, the Storm 125 will be the most affordable Aprilia scooter on sale in India.

Apart from launching the SR 125 at the 2018 Auto Expo, Aprilia also showcased the Storm 125 earlier this year. At the unveiling event, Aprilia had mentioned that it plans to launch the new 125cc scooter by end of 2018. However, the launch has been delayed and has been pushed forward to the first quarter of 2019.

The Storm 125 is based on the Aprilia SR 125 and shares the same styling cues and most of the cycle parts with its 125cc sibling. The major difference being that the Storm 125 runs on redesigned 12-inch wheels as opposed to the 14-inch wheels as seen on the SR 125. The Storm also gets Vee Rubber-branded off-road oriented tyres, with a 120/80 tyre at the front and a 130/80 tyre at the rear. In comparison, the SR 125 sports 120/70 section rubber at both the ends. Also, the upcoming scooter gets matte colour options, redesigned graphics and will be offered with a variety of aftermarket accessories.

Powering the Storm 125 is the same air-cooled, single-cylinder engine as seen on the SR 125, which produces 9.5hp at 7,250rpm and 9.8Nm of torque at 6,250rpm. The Aprilia SR 125 retails for Rs 65,841 (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and we expect the Storm 125 to undercut its 125cc sibling by a few thousand rupees, making it the most affordable Aprilia scooter in India.
