According to sources, Vijayan will be meeting a delegation of Keralites in New York at 6pm (local time) on Thursday and discuss about post-flood rebuilding activities in Kerala.

Vijayan is expected to be back in Kerala in the early hours of Monday. Though he first planned a get together in New Jersey too, the plan was dropped later.

It is reliably learnt that treatment for prostate-related illness of Vijayan was successful at Mayo Clinic and doctors have expressed satisfaction over his health condition. Industries minister E P Jayarajan told reporters on Wednesday the CM would be chairing the next cabinet meeting scheduled for September 27. The get-together of Keralites in New York will be held at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Rockland County.

The gathering will have high profile audience, including senior Keralite officials working in different US-based multi-national companies and a few NRI businessmen.

The meeting has been convened with an aim to sensitise the Kerala diaspora in the US about the Herculean task that lies ahead in rebuilding the flood-ravaged state.

Though no fund raising has been planned at the event, the CM is excepted to brief attendees about the crowd funding model adopted by the cabinet to seek fund from private parties to rebuild the state.

"Apart from the Keralite work force here, Malayali priests have also been invited for the meeting. Two youngsters-Arun Nella and Ajomon- who have crowd sourced Rs 10.50 crore for flood relief activities from the US will also attend the gathering, said a source in the US.
