Depression to bring more rain in Chennai

CHENNAI: The city is expected to receive more rainfall and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as a low pressure area that has formed in the east-central Bay of Bengal is likely to concentrate into a depression in 12 hours. It is likely to turn into a deep depression in 24 hours.

The Met office said, “It is likely to move westnorthwestwards towards North Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coasts and cross between Kalingapatnam - Puri during late night on September 20 and early morning the next day."

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in some areas of the city on Thursday. Maximum temperature is likely to be 29°C. The city received 1.8cm rain since 1.45am on Wednesday and remained overcast and pleasant. The maximum temperature hovered steadily in the range of 27°C to 28°C throughout the day.
