A 21-year-old woman was gang-raped allegedly by four men in Ballabgarh here late on Tuesday night. The accused, who are yet to be identified, allegedly held the woman’s male friend hostage as they took turns to rape her.
The victim and her friend work with private companies and come from middle-class families, said the police.
The incident comes close on the heels of the gang-rape case in which a teenager was drugged and sexually assaulted in Rewari on September 12.

A Special Investigation Team headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ballabgarh City, has been constituted to investigate the matter. The police said sketches of the alleged culprits would be released soon.
According to the police, the woman and her friend were on their way to a market on a motorcycle around 8 p.m. when the vehicle broke down at a secluded place near the Agra Canal.
While the two were figuring out what to do, four men accosted them and dragged them to a forest area nearby. Two of the accused held the man hostage even as the other two took turns to rape the woman behind the bushes. Later, the duo watching the friend also assaulted the woman, stated the complaint lodged by the victim.
Around 11 p.m., the woman contacted her family and reached Police Post Sector-3 to report the matter. “Since it was a rape case, the police took the victim to the women’s police station in Ballabgarh where a complaint was promptly registered and she was sent for medical examination to the civil hospital,” said Faridabad Police spokesperson Sube Singh. The medical report of the victim is awaited but a case has been registered on charges of gang rape, causing hurt and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code. The victim’s statement was also recorded before a magistrate.
Though media reports claimed the victim was made to run around for registration of her complaint as the police squabbled over jurisdiction, the police denied the allegations.
Faridabad Police Commissioner Amitabh Singh Dhillon, along with several senior officers and a Forensic Science Laboratory team, visited the spot on Wednesday.
