The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that an expert panel set up to deal with issues relating to solid waste management in Delhi should set “specific time targets” on how projects need to be carried out.
The apex court, which perused a status report filed by the panel, also asked whether the Lieutenant-Governor was being briefed about the meetings of the committee.
“We have gone through the report. There is no specific time target. It just says that we have to do this, we have to do that. But by when? It is not there,” noted the Bench.
The apex court had on August 17 asked the L-G to set up the panel to go in-depth into all aspects of solid waste management in Delhi, including cleaning up landfill sites and formulating policies.
