Bangladeshi held with banned drug BENGALURU: A 28-year-old Bangladeshi national was arrested by Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) police on Monday evening for allegedly trying to sell banned YaBa tablets to customers at a canteen in the parking lot. Cops seized 80 tablets worth Rs 30,000 from him.

Sumon Shaik, a resident of Begur, south Bengaluru, who’s from Nadail in Bangladesh, confessed to police that he used to sell YaBa tablets to air passengers and cab drivers to make easy money. Police arrested him with help from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

On further interrogation, Shaik said he’s a Bangladeshi national and had come to the city one-and-a-half-years ago. He claimed to be employed in Bengaluru and told police that he didn’t have a visa or passport. He was booked under provisions of the Foreigners Act 1946, Foreigners Order 1948 and NDPS Act.
