Stars of the hit Welsh thriller Hidden have been spotted in North Wales as filming for the new series gets underwy.

The show features former Emmerdale actress Sian Reese Williams as DI Cadi John who we saw in the first series leading an investigation into the discovery of a body in the Snowdonia National Park.

Aired bilingually in English and Welsh, the eight-part first series premiered in January this year as 'Craith' on S4C.

The English version came to screens months later in June and was shown on BBC Wales and BBC4.

Each scene of the eight episode series was filmed back-to-back in Welsh and in English to retain continuity between the two versions.

It became the most viewed show on BBC4 for a number of its episodes and was in the top 10 for the channel in its entirity.

In 2017, Reese Williams told the Daily Post : "Tourism is already great here in North Wales but I think the show will definitely give it a boost".

"It’s set here, it’s filmed here and it showcases the best of the country - and it shows the rest of the world that Wales isn’t just hills and sheep".

Branded a "Welsh noir", the show is amongst the likes of 'Hinterland' (which featured Reese Williams) and 'Keeping Faith' in bringing Wales to the forefront of successful and thrilling TV.

With 'Keeping Faith' renewed for a second series, fans expected Hidden to return to screens as well - and now it's been confirmed.

A few days ago Reese Williams was spotted in Llandudno with the actress, who played Genesis Walker in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale, even taking to Twitter to ask for restaurant recommendations.

A Llandudno hotel has now confirmed that Reese Williams is back for a second series of 'Hidden'.

The Grand Hotel posted a photo of the actress with a member of staff to their Facebook page.

The caption read: "We're all so excited to have the very lovely Sian Reese Williams staying with us at The Grand whilst filming season 2 of Hidden".

"Look out for it on BBC1, it's filmed in Llandudno!"

The hotel's reference to BBC1 suggests that the show has been promoted to the BBC's main outlet.

Fans were quick to share their excitement with Anna Ashton replying: "Enjoyed the first series, can’t wait for the next one".

Rose Fowler added: "Loved the first one".

Whilst Tina Perrin said: "Wow! That first series was DARK".

There's currently no word from the BBC about when series two of 'Hidden', or 'Craith', will air - but its likely to be early 2019.
