Shares of United Natural Foods Inc. UNFI, +1.65% fell more than 10% in the extended session Thursday after the company reported fiscal fourth-quarter per-share earnings that missed Wall Street views. United Natural said it earned $33 million, or 64 cents a share, in the quarter, compared with $39 million, or 76 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted for one-time items, the company earned 76 cents a share, compared with 72 cents a share a year ago. Results "reflected the impact of customer mix shift and higher than anticipated freight costs," Chief Executive Steven L. Spinner said in a statement. Revenue rose 11% to $2.6 billion, compared with $2.3 billion a year ago. Analysts polled by FactSet expected per-share GAAP and adjusted earnings of 86 cents a share on sales of $2.6 billion for the company. United Natural Foods shares ended the regular trading day up 1.7%.
