Honor Play is the first smartphone in India to arrive with GPU Turbo

Huawei brand Honor on Wednesday announced the open sale for the Honor Play via Amazon.in. Only the premium 6GB RAM/ 64GB variant of the Honor Play will be available in the open sale, while the base variant with 4GB RAM will be part of weekly flash sales the next of which is at 12pm IST on September 26. Key highlights of the Honor Play include the company's Kirin 970 SoC, a vertical dual rear camera setup, and a 19.5:9 display with a notch on top.

The Honor Play is also the first smartphone in India to come with GPU Turbo, which claims to offer 60 percent better gaming performance and 30 percent better battery optimisation. The phone recently got updated with a new 4D Smart Shock feature that helps enhance user experience when gaming.

In related news, Honor is currently hosting its Honor Days sale in India across Flipkart and HiHonor online stores between September 18 and September 21. The company is offering card discounts and exchange offers on select smartphones as part of the offer.

Honor Play price in India, availability

Honor Play price in India is set at Rs. 19,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant and Rs. 23,999 for the one with 6GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage, which is the one going up for open sale. The phone is sold in India in Midnight Black and Navy Blue colour options.

Honor Play specifications

The dual-SIM (Nano) Honor Play runs EMUI 8.2 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo, and sports a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, coupled with 4GB/ 6GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. Storage is expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB).

As for optics, the Honor Play sports a dual rear camera setup with a primary 16-megapixel sensor, with f/2.2 aperture, and a secondary 2-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture; coupled with an LED flash and PDAF. On the front of the smartphone is a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture. There is a 3,750mAh battery under the hood of the Honor Play. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
