Our dream is to see MP’s children touching the sky by overcoming challenges, says Sports Minister
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, The Sports and Youth Welfare Minister of MP, Hon’ble Yashodhara Raje Scindia, inaugurated Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Sports Complex in Itarsi today.
Earlier, she inspected the complex and ignited the sports torch just before commencing the ceremony by lighting up the lamp. She honored the Asian Games 2018 medalists Muskan Kirar, Harshita Tomar and Aadhya Tiwari. The Minister also honored hockey athlete Vivek Sagar’s father.
Addressing the ceremony, the Sports Minister said that it is our dream to see MP’s young athletes touching the sky.
She said that she wants the children to face the challenged heroically. She pointed up the brilliant performances of Sailing silver medalist at Asian Games 2018, Muskan Kirar; Indian Junior Hockey team member Vivek Sagar; and Asian Games participant Aadhya Tiwari and said that these star athletes have become the role models for other children.
She mentioned that Hoshangabad’s daughter Harsihta has made MP and India proud with her achievement and we are proud of her especially because she has even defeated male athletes in the laser 4.7 event in Asiad 2018 to win an individual medal.
She acknowledged the important roles played by Harshita’s coach, Arjuna Award winner Mr. G.L. Yadav in her coaching and her parents, who had shown their faith in the sports department. Likewise, she applauded the part played by Muksan’s coach Mr. Richhpal Singh in her silver medal-winning performance.
She mentioned praising words about Aadhya too, who had reached to quarter-finals of Softball. The Sports Minister disclosed that she asked Harshita and Muskan’s parents to let the girls go abroad and participate in Asian Games, and they have proved it to be a right decision for everyone.
Motivate the children to participate in sports
Delivering his speech, Dr. S.L. Thaosen, the Director of Sports and Youth Welfare said that this day would be remembered as a milestone in the history of Hoshangabad district’s history, as on this day the city gets the much-needed, up-to-mark sports complex.
He added that a budget of around Rs. 14-15 crores would be spent in the upcoming days to prepare the regional talents by making the complex even better.He asked the people to motivate the children to participate in sports while keeping the complex’s environment clean so that many achievers would bloom from here in near future.
On this occasion, the members of District Hockey Association, District Football Association, District Football Association, District Softball Association, Senior Citizen Council, Carom Association, Badminton Association, and Teachers’ Association welcomed the Sports Minister with bouquets.
Zila Panchayat Chairman Mr. Kushal Patel, Mrs. Maya Naroliya, Rajo Malviya, Collector Ms. Priyanka Das, Superintendent of Police Mr. B.S. Yadav, Sports Joint Directors Dr. Vinod Pradhan and Mr. B.S. Yadav along with other officials, citizen representatives, and athletes of various sports were also present in the ceremony.
Our aim is to make sports academies as per international standards
Continuing her speech, the Minister said that 17 sports academies in many cities including Bhopal are being operated by DSYW, MP and their aim is to make all of these as per the international standards.
She commended the infrastructure of the newly built sports complex and thanked MP Vidhan Sabha Chairperson Mr. Sitasaran Sharma for his significant efforts in establishing this complex.
She urged the citizens to respect this sports infrastructure and support the administration in keeping its premises clean and positive by avoiding littering. She said that this complex belongs to the people only and it is their responsibility to keep it fine.
The minister announced that the football area would be developed as a special center very soon, and 10 other such centers would also be constructed at the places where the people are showing serious enthusiasm in football.
She also mentioned that the running track at the complex would be turned into a synthetic one, along with the construction of an indoor hall encompassing the facilities to play volleyball and badminton. Apart from these, the facilities for tennis, kho-kho, mallakhamba etc. would be made available in the left portion of the complex.
She directed the authorities to build the main gate of the complex towards the railways. She also informed about the equestrian academy spread over about 30-acre-area in Bhopal, which has been polishing the young athletes and their horses to win medals in various competitions.
After her speech, MP Swimming Association Chairperson Mr. Piyush Sharma took the stage. He told everyone that the Sports Minister performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Sports Complex on 5th July 2016 and it has been completed in just 2 years, 2 months and 10 days. He also highlighted the need for an Astroturf field in Itarsi.
Chief Municipal Officer Mrs. Sudha Rajendra Agrawal expressed her and citizens’ gratitude for building this complex in Itarsi. The member of State Antyoday Committee, Mr. Harishankar Jaiswal, also addressed the ceremony.
