I agree with the author of this article that the Chinese are taking over the control of our continent. Looking at the massive support they are giving most of the African countries, there is no doubt that they are hoping for something better in the near future.  By the time Chinese fully control the continent, we will be people without identity. We will be knowing so little about history and culture.  

Europeans who colonised most of the African countries looked down upon our cultures, hence the reason some of our Intangible Cultural Heritage elements subsided. We pined our hopes on what they can teach and provide for us. As Africans, we still embrace what has been taught us by the Europeans and we know so little about our history. In the same way Chinese will wipe off what is left of us.

I think it is now upon an individual to teach his children of where they come from, teach them about the importance of their heritage and how to embrace it. In fact we should do our best to make sure that we raise a generation that knows their identity. We cannot deny the fact that a helping hand from the Chinese comes at the most critical time in our respective countries, but we have to be careful.
