Jail authorities denying me treatment, alleges Jayesh Patel

VADODARA: Jayesh Patel, the rape-accused founder and former president of Parul University has alleged that the Vadodara Central Jail authorities are not taking him to SSG Hospital for treatment.

Patel, who ifor allegedly raping a nursing student of the university in 2016, has approached court to order the jail authorities to do the needful.

Patel claimed that SSG Hospital doctors have advised him treatment from neurosurgeon twice a week. He also said he has been advised regular physiotherapy.

Patel was advised treatment by the doctor when he was recently discharged from the hospital. He suffers from the condition of disc prolapse and also diseases related to heart, liver and diabetes.

“Though the SSG Hospital doctors had asked jail authorities that I should be taken to the hospital, yet they are not doing so,” he stated in his application. Patel said his daughter had also written a letter to the jail superintendent regarding the issue.

Requesting the court to pass an order, he also mentioned that it is the duty of the jailer to take him for the treatment to the hospital since he is an undertrial and that it is his right to get proper treatment.

The court will continue hearing his plea on Thursday. On the same day, the court will also hear his bail application filed on September 4.
