FALL RIVER -- A Fall River man has been charged with Saturday's bank robbery on Robeson Street.

Joshua R. Infantino, 30, of 722 N. Main St., wore clear plastic gloves and handed a teller at Bay Coast Bank a crumpled piece of paper demanding "big bills," then fled from the bank, according to a press release from the Fall River Police Department.

Despite the robber's efforts to not leave traces, police tracked him down.

Infantino allegedly entered the bank, approached the counter and called a teller over early Saturday afternoon, according to police. Upon receiving a small sum of cash, the suspect, described as a white male, wearing a red and white hat, a red sweatshirt, and wearing clear plastic gloves on his hands, fled and headed north on Robeson Street.

Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Detectives from the Major Crimes Division were notified and responded. Crime Scene Unit detectives processed the scene and collected physical evidence, which included the note and surveillance photos.

Detective Derek Beaulieu of the Major Crimes Division was assigned the case and obtained the full surveillance video from Bay Coast Bank. With that as a base, wanted posters were created and circulated to law enforcement agencies.

Shortly after the photos were circulated, Beaulieu received a tip identifying the male in the photo as Infantino. Beaulieu and detectives Dwaine Cabeceiras, Matt Rezendes, Moses Pereira and Luis Vertentes gathered information about Infantino, which led to a basement apartment at 722 N. Main St. Infantino was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Infantino, charged with unarmed robbery, is due to appear in Second District Court Wednesday.
