lost control over the vehicle and it
toppled near
Thokkottu around midnight on Wednesday.
All the youth travelling in the car hailed from Kerala, and were working at a private hospital in Derlakatte. They had gone on a long drive in a newly-purchased
SUV of their colleague. Police said Anup, 23, a resident of Ernakulam lost his life in the mishap.
According to police, seven people including the dead man had gone for a party hosted by the car owner for making the purchase. After dinner, they went for a long drive. The car driver, on reaching near Thokkottu, where flyover construction work is in progress, failed to notice the construction work. Instead of applying the brakes, he accelerated the vehicle in a panic, and as a result, the vehicle toppled over. Anup was killed on the spot and rest are being treated at a hospital here.
A case has been registered at the Mangaluru South traffic police station.
