Morocco’s tourism minister Mohammed Sajid announced the opening of its first tourism office in New Delhi.
At present the nation has a footfall of around 15,000 and is intending to touch the 40,000-mark by 2019.
The minister said that India is a big country but in recent years there were low number of foreign tourists from India to Morocco. Considering the culture and development both the countries have similarity. There is a diversity in the tourism sector and is very close to its civilization.
Tourism is a strategic sector that create jobs and a tourism agreement was signed with India.
Further there will be an agreement on air transport with Air India.
The location, date and opening of the office is yet to be decided and the new office will help in understanding the what the Indian tourists are looking for. Several stakeholders will be able to get professional information.
Currently there are 17 tourism offices of Morocco and India is rapidly turning out to be fastest growing outbound travel markets in the world. India has a 7 per cent GDP growth rate.
