In new appointments, Sec of Agriculture and Chief of NHAI named

The Centre appointed Sanjay Agarwal, an Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS of 1984 batch, as new Secretary, Agriculture, in place of S.K. Pattanayak, who is superannuating this month. Another IAS of the same batch, Pritam Singh from Rajasthan cadre has been appointed as Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC).

A 1985-batch IAS Sanjeev Ranjan has been made Chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) while his brother and Tamil Nadu cadre officer Rajeev Ranjan was appointed Special Secretary in the GST Council Secretariat under Department of Revenue.

Anita Bhatnagar Jain from Uttar Pradesh cadre of 1985 batch has been appointed as Secretary, Central Information Commission (CIC) in the rank of Additional Secretary.

Sudha Krishnan, a 1983 batch IAS of Indian Audit and Account Service (IA&AS) has been posted as Member Finance, Space Commission with additional charge of Member Finance, Earth Commission and also Atomic Energy Commission with headquarters at New Delhi.

Another significant appointment is that of Tarun Kapoor of 1987 batch from Himachal Pradesh, as Vice Chairman of Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

The appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi cleared the appointments following which the department of personnel and training (DoPT) issued the notification on Monday.

Moreover, over 20 senior bureaucrats were upgraded to additional secretary level in their existing posts.
