When Rajinikanth announced his decision to enter politics last year, seemingly little exactitude was associated with his statement. But since December 31, 2017, he has mobilised a base that could become a viable force not just in India, but abroad as well.

After the meticulous appointment of office bearers at various levels, an internal structure of the Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) was established in the months that followed. 

While the RMM grew domestically, it also took formal shape abroad. Starting with the USA and Canada where fan clubs were integrated and office bearers were appointed, Rajinikanth’s political presence has now become truly global.

RMM chapters now also have a presence in the UAE, UK, France, Ireland, Qatar, New Zealand and Australia, with European chapters being recently added. 

Meetings have been held in Washington, Charlotte, London, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman. 

“Office bearers have been appointed after consultations in all these foreign chapters and they have been hand-picked to ensure that once the party is launched next year, the organisation will be primed to start campaigning. 

As there is a huge NRI fan base and support for Rajinikanth, he implemented this strategy,” said a party source.
