With all the scoring coming in a span of three minutes and five seconds in the second half, Walpole on Monday defeated Somerset Berkley Regional 2-1 on Porker Hill in Walpole in an early-season clash of what are considered two of the top field hockey teams in the South Sectional.

Sydney Scales scored with 14 minutes remaining to break a 1-1 tie.

Lauren Rothwell scored the goal for Somerset Berkley (3-1), making it 1-1 with 16:14 left in the game.

Scales had opened the scoring at 17:05 of the second half.

SBR goalie Madison Ferrara made five saves.

Durfee 2, Apponequet 0: At Durfee High School, Deirdre Duarte posted a five-save shutout as the Hilltoppers (4-1) continued their strong play.

Savanha Laroche (assisted by Faith Ferreira) scored in the first half and Abbey Strollo (assisted by Julia Kelly) scored in the second.

Westport 3, Bourne 0: At Westport, Brianna Quinlan scored two goals, both assisted by Abbie Zuber, as the Wildcats won this Mayflower Athletic Conference game.

Madison Avilla (assisted by Molly Bazinet) scored in the first half. Right wing Julia Hurley played a strong game, crossing effectively. Gabby Machairas posted a one-save shutout.

Dighton-Rehoboth 3, Case 0: At D-R, Cardinal goalie Aubrey Carpenter made 16 saves in this South Coast Conference loss.

Case is 2-1-1, 2-1-0 SCC.
