The owner of a nightclub was allegedly thrashed by a group of men for denying single male entry in Lutyen’s Delhi, the police said on Monday.
Mandeep Singh Randhawa, DCP (Central) said Harpreet Singh Talwar — owner of Playboy club — was attacked by a group of youth outside his house in East Patel Nagar on Sunday morning.
During the attack, Mr. Talwar’s bodyguard Tej Pratap Singh suffered serious head injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
On September 15, a group of men were denied single male entry at the nightclub as per club rules. They had an argument with the security staff at the gate. On hearing the commotion, Mr. Talwar intervened and then asked the accused to leave the premises. “After shutting the club, Mr. Talwar left for home with his bodyguard in a car. He alleged that the group of men were waiting for him outside the hotel in their car. The attackers started chasing him and stopped outside his house in East Patel Nagar,” said a police officer.
The accused thrashed Mr. Talwar and his bodyguard, the police said. One accused had smashed a tile on bodyguard’s head. The entire incident has been captured in a CCTV footage obtained from the area, they added.
“We have arrested one accused — Rajvansh Singh —, a businessman and resident of Punjabi Bagh. The others attackers have been identified and they will be arrested soon,” added Mr. Randhawa.
During investigation, it has been found that the accused were known to the complainant. They wanted to teach him a lesson for barring their entry inside the club, the police said. “We have registered an FIR under various sections of IPC at Patel Nagar police station. The case is under investigation,” he added.
