GURUGRAM: The
MCG on Monday passed several agendas amid complaints from councillors that its officials were not responsive to their
queries.
Councillor Mithilesh from ward number 1 alleged that despite making several calls, officials hadn’t carried out sewage repair and upgrade work in her area. “Residents are living in miserable conditions with sewage water spilling in front of their houses. I have raised the issue several times but the engineer concerned did not act. I have a difficult time answering people,” she said. Responding to her complaint, MCG commissioner
Yashpal Yadav summoned the engineer and told him to fix the problem within a week or else face action. Many other officials were asked to finish allotted works within stipulated time.
The issue of non-functional sewage lines in the old city came up at the meeting and the MCG commissioner said that the corporation would complete sewage repair and maintenance work before the next
monsoon season.
The
House unanimously passed a resolution to make the city polythene-free by October 2019. The councillors, however, said that a proposal to shut down factories manufacturing plastic bags must be sent to the central government. The matter of changing names of multiple roads and junctions also came up. A separate committee has been formed to decide on the changes.
The House also discussed the matter of forming a joint committee for upgrade of the city’s government schools. It was concluded that a proposal would be shared with the education department. They also passed the agenda for development of a children’s park in the city.
