CHANDIGARH: Three men accused of a murder in Sonepat,
Haryana, allegedly shot twice at the prime witness in Sector 40 on Monday. The victim is safe and out of danger.
Sunil Khaat, a resident of Sector 41, said he had gone to Sector 40 market in his
Toyota Fortuner SUV for some personal work. The accused identified as Sanjay, Pawan and Krishan were following him in their
Mahindra Scorpio SUV. Sunil alleged they brought their vehicle parallel to his and fired twice. Both the bullets hit the SUV. Sunil immediately called the police. The accused fled.
Sunil told cops that his brother was murdered by the three in 2010 in Gohana, Sonepat. A hearing in the case is scheduled for Tuesday.
All three accused were out on bail. “They came to Chandigarh to attack me,” Sunil alleged in his complaint.
Police registered a case under Section 25-54-59 of Arms Act and Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC at the Sector 39 police station.
DSP (crime) Pawan Kumar said, “We have found the SUV of the accused. A case has been registered and the investigation is under progress.”
