BHOPAL: Amid Rahul Gandhi's show of strength in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has dared the Congress president to announce support for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and give a call of "Kasam Ram ki Khate Hain, ki Mandir Wahin Banayenge".

BJP national vice-president and Rajya Sabha member Prabhat Jha said that Congress' "Soft Hindutva" is seasonal and emerges only during the elections.

"Rahul's love for Lord Shiva and Lord Ram is also for the forthcoming elections. If he he so keen to care for Hindu sentiments, he should vow to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his endeavour to build Ram Temple in Ayodhya."

"There is no need for 'Shiv Bhakt' Rahul Gandhi to turn 'Ram Bhakt," Jha told TOI.

The BJP leader further said, "Everybody knows that god cannot be won over by politics. God is not 'unknowledgeable' or ignorant. God is well aware who worships him every day and who is revering during elections. Rahul is making a fool of the god but it also seems that he is making fool of himself".

Jha also mocked Congress' announcement to construct Ram Path in Madhya Pradesh if voted to power.

He said central government has already started work on the Ramayan Circuit project, estimated to come up at a cost of Rs 266 crore. There is no use of making fake promises, he reacted.

"Under Rahul Gandhi's regime, Congress has restricted to two states of the total 19 in the last five years. The party has claimed to invite 2 lakh workers but, failed to garner support within itself. One could see posters of Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia put up separately. There seem sto be no unity in the party till this day", he said.

Rahul Gandhi is on a day's visit to Bhopal to participate in a mega road show and address party workers to enthuse them ahead of the assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year.
