ALLAHABAD: A group of around a dozen student leaders of Allahabad University, led by the president of AU students union, Avnish
Yadav staged a protest at the
library gate of AU, on Monday. The student leaders were protesting against the VC and demanded that he should resign from his post for he is of immoral character.
Monday’s protest was in follow-up with the earlier announcement made by the AUSU president wherein he has said that student leaders will not allow the VC to enter the campus as he should step down from his post so that an independent inquiry can be conducted against him.
As there are serious allegation against the VC on the issue of having relation with a Delhi based woman, there should be a detail probe on the entire issue. “Till the time, the probe do not come out with the truth, the VC should not enter the campus as this would interfere with the independent probe” said Avnish.
Soon after the students leaders sat on the protest, AU proctor called the police and soon all the protesting student leaders including Avnish were apprehended by the police and taken to police line. All of these students leaders were later released on personal bond.
However, AU proctor, Prof RS Debey has written a letter to Colonelganj police wherein he has requested to lodge an FIR against the protesting student leaders. The proctor has named 10 people in the application including AUSU president Avnish Yadav.
