Nishikant Dubey's move outside to allow one of the party workers wash his feet in full public view is drawing flak from rival leaders.
Local BJP cadre Mahesh Sah demonstrating extreme reverence towards the BJP MP not only washed his feet but also drank the same water as mark of charnamrit in full public view on Sunday during the inaugural function of a bridge in Kanhara village of
Godda district.
The event however has drawn criticisms from different quarters including his political rivals as the video footage of the event went viral on social media and across wider political spectrum for what they term the instance of prevailing fuedalism in the saffron party.
Dubey who produced the BJP cadre before media in a press conference this evening in
Godda to defend himself said opposition parties were raising a non issue for having failed to mislead people on various issues.
Dubey revealed that the BJP cadre had once wounded his finger to put tilto of blood on his forehead to mark his reverence and that he might have repeated it on Sunday.
"I intially objected to Manoj Ji's request to wash my feet but he threatened to wound himself again if I did not oblige him prompting me to obey him without any delay" Dubey said on a lighter note.
Clarifying his stand the BJP cadre Manoj Sah said he had vowed to drink Dubey's charnamrit if his promise to make a bridge in the village was fulfilled.
"The bridge was long pending aspiration of local people which will lesssen the distance of the district headquarter by 7 kilometres." Sah said he just fulfilled his promise as mark of reverence on behalf of all the locals who were the beneficiaries.
"I will go to the extent of taking legal recourse if the issue continued to be viewed in political backdrop or otherwise" Sah warned opposition parties and rivals.
