The Chicago Fire Cast Is Just as Bummed as You Are About Dawson Leaving

If you're among those who are devastated that Monica Raymund is leaving Chicago Fire after six seasons with the Dick Wolf drama, you're in good company. Her castmates are just as bummed as you are that the badass paramedic won't be sticking around the firehouse this upcoming season. During this year's One Chicago Day, Raymund's co-stars spoke up about losing Dawson and how her absence will affect the remaining firefighters.

"You can never replace a Gabriella Dawson," Joe Minoso told TV Guide. Added Christian Stolte. "She helped make the show what it is, so there's a vacuum where she used to be."

Raymund announced in May that she was leaving the beloved character behind to pursue other opportunities and she's already booked her first major gig since dropping the big news. Raymund is set to star in the new Starz series P-Town as a hard-partying lesbian obsessed with solving a murder, leaving a huge hole that Fire looks to be filled by newcomer Annie Ilonzeh. And while Dawson's absence will surely be felt by the Firehouse 51 crew, no one will be more affected by it than her husband Casey.

"Casey's obviously distraught about it, to the point of doing things in the premiere that are ill-advised," explained showrunner Derek Haas. Added Stolte, "Casey's a little surly because he lost his woman. He's a little harder to be around."

Getting over the breakup of his marriage won't be an easy feat but it's something the devastated firefighter must do if he ever intends to move forward with his life. "It's a tragic end but we're gonna see Casey pick up and move on," said Jesse Spencer.
