Body found in Lake Daylesford was of 90-year-old woman, cops say
The woman whose body was found in Lake Daylesford was a 90-year-old from the local area, police say.
Investigators say the Daylesford woman had wandered away from her home on Sunday night, before being discovered on Monday morning.
It is believed a passer-by made the grim discovery in the popular tourist town about 8am.
The woman's body was found near a bridge on Bleakley Street, near renowned restaurant The Boathouse.
Police said the death was not suspicious. A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
Temperatures were near freezing in Daylesford on Monday morning.
Pedestrians at the scene told Fairfax Media they had been asked to avoid the area but had not been told what was happening.
Locals say the bridge is popular with children, who jump off it in the summer.
