AGRA: In a sensational case of double murder, two bodies of Kannauj residents were found on Chhibramau-Fatehgarh
state highway along with their hatchback on Monday morning.
Identified as Anil Pratap Singh (40) and his nephew Godhan Singh (28), residents of Tadaa village under Saurikh police jurisdiction in the Kannauj district, the two victims were found lying dead close to Bahurikpur village.
According to police, on Monday morning at around 5am, a distress call was received by Jahanganj police about two bodies on state-highway, after which superintendent of police Fatehgarh Santosh Kumar Mishra, along with ASP Tribhuwan Singh, a dog squad and a forensic team, reached the spot.
The two victims were lying dead on bitumen road beside their hatchback, which was standing on carjack. After a recovery of mobile phone from one of the victims' pockets, the identities of the duo were established and Chhibramau (Kannauj) CO Laxmikant Prajapti was informed about the incident, who also reached the spot to help in the investigation.
Speaking to TOI, ASP Tribhuwan Singh said, “Based on the victims' relative's written complaint, an FIR was lodged against a man, identified as Govind, who is also resident of Tadaa village. He has been booked under IPC section 302 (murder).”
“Our initial probe suggests that the two were killed in a business rivalry as Anil Pratap Singh and Govind both ran illegal liquor business in Kannauj. Since the victims were strangulated to death, there is a possibility of more than one person's involvement in the double murder,” he said.
He further added, “It’s yet not clear whether the two victims were being trailed or the accused were travelling along with them, as the car’s front tyre was replaced, but the hatchback was still standing on carjack. Once the accused Govind is arrested, then only the sequence of event would be cleared.”
