The Jeevan Bima Nagar police have arrested a man from New Delhi who allegedly used to fly down to Bengaluru only to commit burglary in and around the city and fly back with the stolen valuables.
The police said their initial investigations had revealed that the accused, Harmain alias Sonu, 27, was involved in multiple burglary cases reported in east, northeast, and Whitefield divisions.

According to the police, the accused would dress up well and travel by flights to avoid undue attention. He would stay in hotels and move around the city in cabs to identify houses that were locked. He would do a recce and then target the house he had zeroed in, they said. He would then return to Delhi via other metro cities with the stolen valuables.
According to the police, Sonu had his contacts in other metros to dispose of the valuables. Sonu would change the route frequently and at times travel in cabs to reach nearby cities to take a flight, the police said.
However, luck ran out for Sonu when the J.B. Nagar police zeroed in on him based on CCTV camera footage. With the help of their Delhi counterparts, the police arrested Sonu and recovered some valuables from him.
In August, the Vijayanagar police had arrested a Delhi gang member who had used a similar modus operandi to commit burglaries in the city.
