Weathermen have forecast formation of a low-pressure system in Bay of Bengal next week, which could bring rainfall to the State.
On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed the formation of a low-pressure system around September 18 in Central Bay of Bengal. IMD-Hyderabad officials said the system could bring rainfall to Telangana but its development needs to be monitored before an accurate forecast can be made.
Days getting warmer
Monsoon activity in the State during September has been restricted to localised thunderstorms, resulting from convective heating of the land. The day temperature has been above normal for the past few days, resulting in formation of storms, giving way to brief spells of rain.
This monsoon, 13 districts have received deficient rainfall while two districts, Adilabad and Peddapalli, have recorded excess. Sixteen districts have recorded normal rainfall.
Rain relief
On Saturday, rainfall was recorded in Ranga Reddy, Vikarabad, Nirmal and Nagarkurnool. Manneguda in Vikarabad recorded 46 mm, the highest for any location in the State until 10 p.m.
Hyderabad recorded maximum day temperature of 33.7 degree Celsius on Saturday.
IMD forecast thundershowers in the evenings for the next three days due to heating. For the past many days, the recorded temperature in the city has been above normal, with light rain providing temporary relief to residents.
