BCKV classes suspended, students asked to vacate hostels

Two days after the students of (BCKV) gheraoed Vice Chancellor for over 24 hours, the university authorities have declared indefinite suspension of classes and ordered the students to vacate the hostels with immediate effect.

Stating the academic activities in the institute were being hampered, the BCKV authorities said in a notice posted on BCKV website on Friday night: "... all the academic activities including all classes shall remain suspended until further notice."

In another notice, the BCKV said: "the Students' Hostels (Boys' and Girls') of the of this university shall be closed with effect from 15.09.2018 and all the students residing in the said hostels shall have to vacate their respective hostels simultaneously."

The VC had fallen ill during gherao on September 13 evening and was allowed to leave the chamber by the agitating students.

They had demanded that VC should be back in the office on September 14 and meet them to discuss the issue of taking action against the (Agriculture) Srikanth Das and Students Welfare (DSW) Goutam Chakraborty for some alleged irregularities, a of the organisation said.
