4 held by GRP with 3.5kg opium

LUDHIANA: Crime investigation agency of the Government Railway Police has arrested four accused in drug peddling case and recovered 3.5kg opium from their possession on Thursday night at Ludhiana railway here. Later, police identified all four accused as Mohinder, Mohammad Hasnaan, Joginder, Nand lal of Jharkhand.
Pawinder Singh, assistant sub inspector at CIA staff, said, “After receiving a tip-off, security forces stated conducting special checks at various platforms of city station. Meanwhile, they detained four accused after 3.5kg opium were recovered from their possession on Thursday evening.”

In the initial stage of the investigation, police came to know the accused had brought opium from Jharkhand and were looking forward to supply the same to their unknown customers in the peripheral areas of the city.

A case has been filed against the accused under sections 18/61/85 of the NDPS Act. Police sought their custody for further investigation regarding the case to know about other members of the group.
