GREATER NOIDA: A 19-year-old
pregnant woman, staying with her
live-in partner in
Eco Village 2 in Bisrakh, died in mysterious circumstances on Wednesday. Her health deteriorated after she suffered a miscarriage, doctors in a hospital said. Her body has been sent for autopsy.
According to police, the woman, an original resident of Guwahati, Assam, was pursuing BSc in biotechnology through distance learning. She was staying with a 20-year-old man, who works in a technology firm as an engineer and an original resident of
Muzaffarnagar. They had been staying in a rented flat in Eco Village 2 for a month.
Nishank Sharma, circle officer, Bisrakh, said the woman was admitted in a private hospital in
Greater Noida West where she died after a few hours. However, it was revealed by the doctors that she was pregnant and her health deteriorated after she suffered a miscarriage.
Meanwhile, the woman’s live-in partner said they had recently moved into the flat in Greater Noida West and everything was well till three days before her death when she complained of minor
fever and gave up eating. “I was offering her food and she was continuously refusing it. I even asked her to see a doctor but she took it lightly and ignored. On Wednesday, when I reached home at around 7pm, I saw her lying unconscious on the floor while a water tap was still on. I took her to the hospital where the doctor first informed me about her pregnancy. They performed an ECG test and an hour later she died,” he said.
The police detained the man for almost the entire day until the family of the girl arrived at the hospital and confirmed that they knew about their relationship and refused to give any complaint against him. “The man appeared to be unaware of the girl’s pregnancy and got to know about it only after the death. The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy was done and the report is awaited,” Sharma added.
