J-K: Massive fire breaks out at hotel in Srinagar

The fire broke out at Hotel Pamposh near Regal Chowk in the heart of the city here, a police official said. He said the fire started in the attic of the six-storey building and spread fast.

A massive fire erupted at a hotel in Srinagar on Saturday afternoon. The building houses Srinagar offices of several media outlets. While over two dozen fire tenders were pressed into service, the flames couldn’t be doused till evening.

The fire erupted in Hotel Pamposh at Srinagar’s busy Regal Chowk around 2 pm. In no time, the fire engulfed the top storey of the hotel burning it completely.

The fire and emergency services immediately pressed into service and close to two dozen fire tenders reached the spot to douse the flames. Initially, the officials manages to control the fire but after sometime the flames erupted again engulfing the lower stories of the hotel.

The officials are still trying to douse the flames. The officials, however, prevented the flames from spreading to other buildings. An official of fire and emergency service was also injured and was rushed to hospital.
