Heating up the election campaign in Telangana, BJP leaders took a dig at caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, his policies and his ‘political friendship’ with MIM from the dais of a public meeting here on Saturday.
“You won’t go to Secretariat citing Vaastu and dream of securing political power in Delhi,” BJP president Laxman ridiculed KCR, referring to the latter’s earlier statements of entering national politics.
By supporting “religious fundamentalist MIM”, KCR was setting a dangerous precedent in State politics, he said. Accusing the TRS of cheating dalits, the BJP president said the party couldn’t fulfil the promises of giving three acres of land to each dalit family and making a dalit as Chief Minister.
BJP leader Kishan Reddy, referring to MIM chief’s challenge to field Amit Shah from Hyderabad for election, he dared Owaisi to contest from Amberpet Assembly constituency. “Even our party common worker will defeat you,” he said.
“There are no beers or biryanis here. Still this meeting is attended by massive numbers of people,” BJP leader Muralidhar Rao said apparently referring to the recent TRS meeting at Kongara Kalan. TRS leaders said 25 lakh people would turn up, but there were not more than five lakh, he said. KCR lost his energy on seeing the low turnout through aerial view and now has no confidence to fight BJP, he said.
Former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said people of Telangana will not forgive KCR as he didn’t go to Kondagattu where 60 persons died in a bus accident recently.
