‘Needs of three districts will be met’

Emphasising the need for safeguarding water resources across the State, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said that the government had embarked on an action plan to ensure there is no wastage.

Taking part in the ‘Jalasiri ki Harathi’ programme at Srisailam, Mr. Naidu said Kurnool district had received substantial amount of water owing to copious rains in neighbouring States.

“We aim to dedicate the programme to the entire farming community across the State. This year, the Srisailam reservoir has received good amount of flood water and measures are being taken to store it,” he said.

In view of the comfortable situation, water from the Srisailam reservoir would be released to the Mucchumarri Pothireddypadu, Handri Neeva projects to serve the needs of Kurnool, Kadapa and Anantapur districts. Mr. Naidu said that it was his dream to achieve the interlinking of rivers.

Earlier, Mr. Naidu offered prayers at Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam.

Deputy CM K.E. Krishnamurthy, Ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Kalava Srinivasulu and Akhila Priya were among those present.
