NEW DELHI: The hotel in Paharganj, where an American video blogger was allegedly sexually harassed by the employees, has been identified by the Delhi Police.

Based on the description, cops scanned through more than 150 hotels in the area and zeroed in on one Hotel Vishal and have tracked down its owner. Cops found that the woman had stayed at the hotel from 27 July to 2 August, of which she was alone for four days after her friend left.

Police scanned the DVRs of the hotel to establish the claims. TOI had reported about the incident on Thursday after the woman posted a video on social media. The woman has not registered any complaint with the cops but approached the hotel service provider, OYO rooms, with an online complaint.

In a video blog, the woman said she visited India for three weeks in mid-July along with a friend and had put up at an OYO hotel. There, she received several lewd calls over the landline and some people even made attempts to get inside her room, claiming the AC and Wi-Fi were not working.

After being harassed for three days, the woman got fed up and left the hotel, and went back to her hometown the next day. The woman uploaded the video on Monday which became viral. Police sources said that to identify the hotel, the company head of OYO rooms was asked to be part of the investigation. Based on their information, the hotel was identified, as it was delisted immediately after the incident came to light.

The deregistration was confirmed, as the hotel manager had claimed the establishment had delisted themselves over lesser payment from OYO rooms. Sources in Delhi Police said that they have contacted the US Embassy and have asked for the contact details of the woman. Her name is known but not her whereabouts. Cops will try to persuade her to come forward and give a formal complaint so that legal action can be taken against the culprits and the hotel management.
